“I rearrange time for the amusement of others” Steve explains when asked about his job. After a moment of confusion he clarifies “… I’m an Editor.”
Steve has always been a little different. Growing up between rural Wisconsin and Kobe, Japan he’s been a bit of a black sheep… a very polite black sheep. Maybe that’s what led him to study Film at CalArts - a kind of haven for black sheep. There he found an appreciation for the conceptual and learned how to bring that unique perspective to his work.
With an editing career as varied as his upbringing he seamlessly slipped between everything from post-hardcore music videos to AAA video game trailers to fantasy-horror-surreality shows without skipping a beat. The awards and nominations for his work have been just as diverse - Emmys, Webbys, Gold Pencils - Steve cut MTV’s first vertical video, sold out games on Amazon with every new episode of TableTop, helped helm a definitive historical series for the NFL, and was once paid to cut a musical montage of dogs on swings.
The styles may differ, but Steve always brings a unique ability to see the hidden possibilities. And he’s brought that (along with his good manners) to Good Behavior, working with brands from Google to Duolingo, Pepsi to Rambler, and EA to Atlassian. When you’ve LIVED outside the box your whole life, thinking outside the box becomes just… thinking.
